Ever feel like you're doing so well one minute, and the next everything gets a little bit crazy?
That was my entire last month! New relationships, new friends, the holidays, birthday, and a few nights out with my husband = FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, and the more-than-occasional indulgence in liquid spirits.
I didn't beat myself up about any of it, I managed not to experience any overwhelming guilt which means that my emotional connections with food are getting into a much healthier place! That, in itself, is exciting. The Eat to Live diet worked amazingly for me, and Robert. Both to the point that rather than return to our old ways we've decided to stay on the straight and narrow, with the occasional indulgence into foods that were temporarily off-limits during the initial 6 week phase of the diet. Robert is down almost 15lbs, and I'm down 63.4lbs overall.
It starts as a vegan diet for 6 weeks, and then after the 6 weeks one can bring certain foods back in. Lean meats, poultry and dairy. The only thing is that none of those groups should account for more than 10% of what you're eating daily which keeps fat, cholesterol and other unhealthy meat-associated problems at a minimum. I love it!
But moving on, I really thought that with my monthly weigh-in I'd really see the effects of not working out for a single day for the entire month of November, and indulging in delicious pecan-pie tartlets. However, it seems that my body was just on such a roll with the dietary changes that introducing sugars, ethanol and and fattier foods did nothing but kick up my metabolism!
Well yesterday, and the day before, I went back to the gym and started getting my eating back on target. I bought a wedding dress as well, a size 20 from David's Bridal and as all my married readers know anything that is a size 20 at David's Bridal really fits more like a 16/18. I've made myself a goal to fit it comfortably by February, 2011 when we depart for our amazing Honeymoon/5 year Wedding Vow Renewal cruise to the Bahamas. On top of the 16/18 size goal I also plan to be somewhere between 250-255 lbs...There. It's written down, and now it's out there and I'm accountable.
Let's see if I can do it! Hope you're all doing well with your health around this time of year!
